Clipisode is a social video company. Our mission is to help create unforgettable experiences between creative people and their friends and fans. Our apps Clipisode and Answers RN are built to help you make and share content in ways that are as private or as public as you need them to be.
We collect three kinds of information: information you provide, information we get when you use our products and information third parties collect for us.
When you create an account on our platform, we get a limited amount of information about you depending on how you sign up. For example, if you use Snapchat to create your account, we get your name and your Bitmoji picture. That’s it. If you sign up using your email address, we get your email address. Beyond that, you might add additional public non-personally identifying information to your profile like your URL and bio. We also store the content you create, including videos and the titles or names you provide with them. Besides your name and email address, we collect very little that would be considered personally identifiable information (PII). If you sign up using an email address and password, your password is stored and managed in a separate service called Auth0.
We collect information while you use our apps so we can improve them. This includes which of our features you use and what kind of device you use them from. Our products might also ask for access to your phone’s camera, microphone and videos so we can record, upload and save videos to your phone as you need.
We use Google's Firebase to log actions you take in our app, like which cue cards you've used. After you sign in, we ask if you're okay with that. If you tell us you're not, we won't activate Firebase for you and your ability to use our app isn't affected. We also get detailed device information like screen size, OS version and battery percentage when you contact us using the live Intercom chat in our apps or on our sites. That saves us the trouble of asking what kind of phone you're using when we help you. And we get automatic crash reports from services like Bugsnag so we can do our best to make sure our apps keep running smoothly for you.
We may share your information in a few different ways. If you are replying to someone, we will send them the information you put in your reply. If you ask us to share information, like to post a killer video you made to Snapchat or Twitter, we are absolutely going to do that for you.
For the most part though, the actions of inviting and sharing are handed off to you to perform. If you text Beyoncé an invitation link, we aren’t going to see Beyoncé’s phone number. And we will be able to tell you if your link was clicked, but not that it was clicked by her. It could have been Blue Ivy or Jay-Z.
If you share information publicly, we might amplify that. For example, our social accounts might retweet an invitation you send or like a great video you shared. We will not socially share content that you have kept private.
We will share information with third party partners to help us improve functionality, fulfill brand partner campaigns, prevent fraud and comply with audits or regulations. If a third party is providing services to us, we may need to share certain information with them and they will be considered to be bound by these terms and policies as if they were Clipisode. We may also share aggregated, non-personally identifiable information with third parties. Finally, if Clipisode is involved in a sale, investment round or business transfer of some kind, your data may be shared with those parties before or after the transaction closes.
We will keep your information for as long as we need to so we can provide you with our services. We store your account information until you ask us to delete it. We store video content and metadata as long as it’s needed to create and share your videos. We try to optimize and archive what we can to be efficient with our resources. Finally, we will retain certain information as required by law and to resolve disputes.
We have policies that determine how we protect different types of information and how we mitigate, respond to and disclose security threats.
You can manage most of your information in our apps, including your account information and the content you create. You can use your device’s settings to revoke permissions, but that may eliminate our ability to help you create amazing social videos. You can delete content, but deleting your account requires that you contact us because we’ve got a small team and haven’t built a self-serve tool for doing that yet.
If you’re a California resident, good for you! You have extra bonus privacy rights because of California laws like the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA"). You have the right to know if we sell your data. We hella don’t. You have the right to get an overview of the personal information we collect, how we use it and who we share it with. That’s all detailed in the non-California sections above that you’ve already read. You can request access to your information, get a copy of your information and ask us to delete your information.

If you’re a resident of Nevada, that’s cool too. You have the right to opt out of having certain personal information sold to third parties who intend to license or sell that information.

If you are a resident of the European Union ("EU") or one of their nearby friends, you may have extra bonus privacy rights under the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"). For these purposes, Clipisode is considered the data controller for some of your account information and all of your content. You can request to view, update, download and/or delete your information.
Clipisode is a U.S.-based company. By using our services, you acknowledge that your information will be collected, processed and stored directly on or transferred to servers in the U.S. and may be transferred to other countries where our affiliates are located or operate. You also consent to the transfer of your data pursuant to the appropriate Privacy Shield framework for your country. No matter where your information goes, we will take commercially reasonable measures to protect your privacy rights. If you have a complaint, you can file it with the supervisory authority in your Member State.
You also get a very cool British-sounding extra bonus privacy right called the “right to object.” (Yes, of course we know that the UK left the EU. We have Twitter.) Anyway, you can use your right to object to our use of your information and content. Most of that objecting can be done self-serve in our apps. Otherwise, just contact us and let us know what you want to object to.
No matter where your information comes from, our products are hosted in U.S.-based data centers and your information will be transferred there so we can process and store it for you. Again, we will take commercially reasonable measures to protect your privacy rights.
Our services are not intended for or marketed to anyone under 13, so we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. We may also limit how we collect, use and store some of the information we get from EU users between the ages of 13 and 16. We might also limit certain features for those users.
